A warm welcome to you all, from The Parent Council of Our Lady’s High school, at this, the start of our new school session. Welcome, in particular, to the parents and guardians of our new first year pupils.
We are particularly proud of our school and of the excellent facilities and opportunities available to our young people. Over the past few years there have been a significant number of improvements made within the building.
ICT is utilised in all classrooms and teaching areas. All have projectors and a large number have interactive whiteboards. Four of the science labs have been upgraded. The dining areas have been completely renovated to provide our young people with a bright, comfortable social area in which to meet up and relax with their respective year groups. Our pupils benefit from a first class Pupil Support Base, Specialist Music Computer Suite, Library Resource Centre, IDL Room, Citizen’s Café, beauty therapy and construction facilities, a Fitness Suite and Dance Studio and a Sensory Garden. Our school is bright and well-appointed and our pupils have the added advantage of large teaching areas and small class sizes, which lend themselves perfectly to the principles behind the Curriculum for Excellence.
On top of this the landscaped setting, playing fields and surrounding woodlands create a unique and stimulating learning environment.
North Lanarkshire Council recently announced further investment in our school including electrical rewiring and an upgrade to the suspended ceilings and redecoration. We have also been in discussion with NLC regarding an upgrade to the outdoor playing fields and would welcome any help that you could provide with this initiative.
We are also very fortunate in Our Lady’s High School, with the strong partnership that exists between the school, the parents and the church. As the first educators of our children, we have a pivotal role to play in this partnership.
The Parent Council meet on the first Monday of each month at 7pm in The Cardinal Winning Conference Room. Our meetings are short and informal and we are always delighted to welcome new members. Our AGM will take place on Monday 5th of October, so if you are interested in getting involved please come along and play your part in ensuring a continuing high quality education for our children.
